YOUR FIRST VISIT

Pet Medical History

Contact your prior vet for your pet’s latest vaccination record and chart; email or fax us ahead of time & always bring a copy along.

New Patient Registration

Fill out a New Patient Online Form the day before your visit to speed up your check in.

Arrival Times

Check-In Upon Arrival

Call Us upon arrival in the parking lot. Notify us of your name and your pet’s name, why you are here, and your parking spot number

Appointment Begins

That’s it! A team member will contact you when it’s your turn.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO PREPARE
FOR YOUR VISIT

  • Bring a recent stool sample along 
  • Prepare a list of medications 
  • Prepare a list of questions or video behaviors concerning you 
  • Keep your pet on a leash or inside a carrier for safety 
  • Utilize our outside walking areas to ease your pet 
  • Walk your pet before and after to create a positive association
  • Monitor your pet closely after vaccinations

DURING THE EXAM OUR
STAFF WILL:

Annual Exam includes a thorough check of the below areas by a DVM to establish a baseline health and determine any pre-testing and vaccinations that may be recommended.

Sick visits will allow for specific examination by a DVM for the targeted concern.

  • Ask questions concerning your pet’s health
  • Listen to your pet’s heart and lungs to identify murmurs or any abnormalities
  • Examine your pet’s mouth and teeth to check for signs of dental disease (if plaque or tartar are present, your veterinarian may recommend a dental cleaning for your pet)
  • Look into your pet’s ears, checking for signs of infection or mites
  • Examine your pet’s eyes
  • Examine your pet’s overall body, checking their skin and coat while feeling for any abnormalities
  • Collect stool samples or blood for testing
  • Screen for any intestinal parasites
  • Screen for heartworm disease
  • Administer your pet’s vaccines
  • Discuss prevention -heartworm and flea/tick- with the owner and answer any questions you may have
  • Prescribe any prescription medications or diets necessary

Along with our goal to provide the most comprehensive care and affordable pricing in Tuscaloosa, our veterinarians strive to work within your budget by reviewing your recommended services at the beginning of your visit. 

Caring for your pet is a vital expense and should become a monthly staple in your budget as soon as you become a new parent.  Establishing your pet with our veterinarians through annual well visits to help expedite sick visits and provide opportunity for afternoon visit slots. Any budget concerns you may have can be discussed with the doctor before beginning your exam so that you can plan for wellness and receive the best care within your budget.  

Please note payment is expected at time of service as an industry standard. Mclendon Veterinary Clinic offers third party financing to assist you in ways to pay including Care Credit and Scratchpay. Apply ahead of time or in office.
