Vet Technicians
The Veterinary Tech (VT) at McLendon Vet will need to be a responsible team member who will assists DVMs with performing the standard of care associated with patient visits. Our fast-paced office sees many walk-in patients daily and needs someone who is able to effectively communicate with clients, other staff members, multi-task, adapt to many situations, and highly proficient in learning new technology. The VT must be able to accept responsibility, listen to staff and clients objectively, communicate well, and be organized while attending to all aspects of veterinary technician duties. Desired skills include but are not limited to: animal restraint, blood draws, IV catheter placement, reading intestinal parasite screens, operating laboratory equipment, and assisting with radiology.
Client Care Receptionists
The Client Care Receptionist (CSR) at Mclendon Vet will need to be skilled in answering phones, multi-tasking, checking in patients, and scheduling surgery and boarding appointments. Exceptional communication skills and customer service are important skills to have in this field and make busy days flow smoothly. Prior experience and familiarity with AVImark software are preferred.
Kennel Technician
The Kennel Technician (Kennel) will need to have a passion for animal care and well-being. They have the important job of making sure our client’s pets are well cared for and maintain a clean environment throughout their stay with us. If you are looking to get into the animal field this is a great place to start and move up through our company. Dr. Collins knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and spent his middle and high school summers in this position to better understand the business. The foundation begins here.
Pre-Vet Assistant
The Pre-Vet Assistant (PVA) position is filled by pre-veterinary students in order to provide assistance to our DVMs and trained technicians. This position provides an opportunity to see the internal workings of a clinic and build an important knowledge base for your future career. As a pre-vet assistant you will have the opportunity to witness animal behavior, practice animal restraint, care for kennels, learn cleaning protocol, increase customer services skills, and become familiar with AVImark. Pre-vet students are vital to our clinic by supporting each department in any way necessary. Compassion, positivity, and enthusiasm to learn are essential skills for all pre-vet assistants. Throughout your role in our clinic you will be assigned areas based on the clinic’s needs at that time. Having an open mindset will grow our culture to its fullest potential. If you have a specific area or skill you would like to learn we encourage you to express that to our doctors, and we will do our best to work it into your schedule.
